Tired of the same old information overload from guidebooks written by people who breezed into town for a free lunch? The Bloggers Guide is harnessing the power and the knowledge of the blogosphere to create a completely new type of city guides to be published both online and in paperback.

Our bloggers give you the inside track - they don't do pages and pages of listings; rather, they make a few recommendations of what's hot and what's not. They would rather give give you a "feel" for the city, with some nuggets of inside information and pointers to start you on your way.

How does it work?

In three ways:

a) We are building a directory of the finest city bloggers in the blogosphere - bloggers submit their blogs for consideration and our team of editors sifts through the wheat from the chaff, including only the very best. One blog from the directory is featured and reviewed on the main site every day and automatically entered into the "City Blogger of the Month" competion to win $100.00. Our editors monitor the blogs in the directory closely, choosing the best posts for inclusion into the paperback guides.

b) Users read an excellent blog post related to life, happenings, or attractions in any city - they then submit the URL and brief description in the Promote a Post section. It is then promoted on the site and users can vote it up or down. The top ranking posts will be considered for entry into the published guides.

c) Users can create and maintain their own blogs on The Bloggers Guide, whether it relates to one city or many. Once again readers can vote on the blog posts and the top ranking posts will be considered for entry into the published guides.

The very best bloggers are invited to become editors of a particular city section and the published guide book. Editors share in the advertising revenue of the site and will be paid royalties on the sales of the guide books.

In addition to the editors, all writers who contribute a piece of writing that is published in the guide books will be paid a royalty for their work.

Anyone can register and contribute but the kudos system ensures that only the quality writing rises to the top.
